TWIN PROJECT: EPICURO funded by EU Humanitarian Aid

Logo EPICURO OK

In March 2017 started Epicuro project, funded by European Commission’s  Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection department (ECHO) within the 2016 call for proposal.

The project aims to foster multi-actor transnational cooperation and enhance knowledge about technology solutions available to local communities, that can help local authorities and Civil Protection operators in monitoring and managing natural disasters, decreasing side effects and making communities across Europe more resilient.

Moreover the project aims to increase Civil Protection teams’ specialisation and role, in support to decision makers, local communities and relevant stakeholders, and enhance policy and institutional commitment for increasing citizens’ capacities in building resilience within their communities.

Epicuro builds upon the experience of a previously funded project within Europe for Citizens program – Network of Towns strand, with which it shares 3 partners (Municipality of Vicenza, Potenza Province, Skopje City).

The Network of Towns project mainly focuses on best practices exchange and raising engaged and aware  cities towards a more resilient Europe against disasters. Epicuro goeas one step fother, helping EU cities to develop effective adaptation strategies to be implemented at local level and focused on achieving a higher level of disaster protection and resilience.
